In order to be eligible to receive the stipend ($1,000), institute participants must attend all live training sessions (May 20-22). Additionally, they must select and integrate low/no cost resources into their selected course so that the cost of all required textbooks and supplementary instructional materials does not exceed $30.
At the end of the summer institute, participants will also be required to:
- Present their revised course syllabus / course outline during Faculty Development Days
- Make a copy of the revised syllabus / course outline available to other department faculty teaching the same course
- Participants will also be encouraged (but not required) to share Canvas course shells and any ancillary materials (homework, quizzes, lecture slides, etc.) developed during the institute with other department faculty
- Write a brief process reflection / report
- Commit to completing annual surveys on the revised course with respect to cost savings and student satisfaction
- Commit to discussing the benefits of OER with students and sharing the collaboratively developed surveys to collect data on student satisfaction and impact
