Affordable Course Materials Summer Institute: Overview

Program Overview

This program exists to educate faculty on the benefits of OER and other low/no-cost resources, and to reduce student costs by facilitating the selection, integration, and use of these resources as course materials. Each participant in the professional development program will have the individual goal of redesigning an existing course and reducing the cost of course materials to $30 or less using OER and other low-cost resources.

Program Structure

This professional development program begins with a 3-day OER training intensive in mid-May, with the majority of the summer then devoted to the work of integrating OER and other free/affordable resources.  Faculty will participate in a peer review process to provide meaningful feedback to their colleagues, and the institute will conclude with a presentation on the resource integration process.

Selected applicants who complete the training and meet the requirements of the program by the end of the Summer 2025 term will be eligible to receive a stipend of $1,000
